The Chow Chow comes from China. They are characterized by their unique blue-black or purple tongue. The only other breed with such colored tongues is the Shar Pei. These dogs have straight hind legs which gives them a stilted gait.

The Czechoslovak Wolfdog was created in 1955 in Czechoslovakia  as an experiment. It became the national dog breed in 1982. FCI recognized this breed in 1989. These dogs were bred to patrol borders.
