The English Setter is a type of gundog. These dogs are gentle but can be quite stubborn. They have great athletic abilities and endurance. And they are bred for hunting animals such as quail, grouse and pheasants.
English Springer Spaniel
The English Springer Spaniel belongs to the Spaniel dog family and is a type of gundog that is bred to flush and retrieve game. Historically, this dog will fling birds into the air and this is how it got “Springer” in its name. These dogs are affectionate and excitable and normally live up to 12 to 14 years of age.
English Cocker Spaniel
The English Cocker Spaniel also belongs to the Spaniel dog family and is close relative to the American Cocker. This breed can bear 3 to 13 puppies at a time. These dogs are active and good natured.
English Mastiffs are the largest dogs in existence, outweighing wolves by an average of 50 kilograms (110 pounds). Mastiff coats come in apricot, silver-fawn, fawn or dark fawn-brindle, and always have black muzzles, ears, noses, and eyelids.
Estrela Mountain Dog
The Estrela Mountain Dog comes from Iberian Peninsula and is amongst the oldest dog breeds there. This breed is large in size and has great athletic abilities. They are intelligent and loyal. While they are affectionate to their owners, they can be very wary of strangers.
English Water Spaniel
The English Water Spaniel was last found in the 1930s. They are now an extinct dog breed. They were previously bred to hunt waterfowl and are known for their diving abilities.
English Beagle (AKA Beagle)
The beagle was created in 1830 in the UK from a mix of Talbot Hound, Southern Hound, North Country Beagle and possibly Harrie. This is a type of scent hound and is small in size. Their appearances bear resemblance to the large foxhound dog breed. This dog breed is particularly popular in literature, painting, comic books, film and TV. One popular character, Snoopy, is said to be of this breed.
English Greyhound (AKA Greyhound)
Greyhound is a type of sighthound. They are bred for dog racing. This breed is gentle and intelligent. These dogs are slim and have long and strong legs, deep chest and a flexible spine. These physical attributes give them the ability to run very fast, with the ability to hit maximum speed within 6 strides from rest.
English Whippet (AKA Whippet)
The Whippet comes from England. This is a type of sighthound whose ancestors are the Greyhounds. These dogs hunt by sight and are commonly bred for racing and dog shows.
English Bulldog (AKA Bulldog)
Bulldog is one of the most popular dog breeds. These dogs are muscular and have a wrinkled face and a pushed-in nose.
English Collie (AKA Rough Collie)
The English Collie looks like the Shetland sheepdogs. However, English Collies are larger at medium to large in size.
English White Bulldog (AKA American Bulldog)
The American Bulldog was created from the Old English Bulldog. This is a type of utility dog and they are large in size. They have a well built body and have large heads. These dogs are bred for looking after animals on farms, competing in dog sports and for dog shows.
English Pointer (AKA Pointer)
The Pointer comes from England. These dogs are a type of pointer dog and are medium in size with great athletic abilities.
English Toy Spaniel (AKA King Charles Spaniel)
English Toy Spaniel belongs to the Spaniel dog family and has existed in Europe since the 16th century. Their origins were believed to be from East Asia. These dogs are small in size.
Epagneul Français (AKA French Spaniel)
Epagneul Français originates from France and were descendents of the dogs in the 14th century. They are a type of Spaniel-like setters and amongst the largest breeds in the Spaniel breeds of dogs. These dogs usually have a white coat and brown markings can be found on their coat.
The English Shepherd comes from US and is a type of herding dog. Their ancestors were various collie breeds that arrive in US with the early British settlers. These early collie breeds were bred to help out with farming activities in east USA to herd sheep and cattle.
Entlebucher Mountain Dog
The Entlebucher Mountain Dog belongs to the Sennenhund dog family and is the smallest breed amongst them. These dogs are medium in size and are used for herding livestock.
English Toy Terrier
The English Toy Terrier was created from Old English Black and Tan Terrier. Manchester Terrier is its close relative. These dogs have eyes of almond shape and ‘candle-flame’ ears. Their coat color is black and tan markings can be found on their face, chest and legs.
Eurohound are also known as Scandinavian hound. This breed is created from a mix between Alaskan husky and any pointer dog breeds. This breed are used for sled racing.
